Evelyn Portman || Age: 28 || Infected || Occupation: Drug Dealer/Sales Woman || Place of Origin: Los Angeles, California, U.S. || FC: Jena Malone || OPEN

Patient Record Number: IEP1097
Ability: Replication (The ability to replicate oneself, others and/or objects)

“Life is pain, highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.”

Biography: Evelyn Portman grew up in an impoverished home. Her family barely scraped by. Their neighborhood was considered the slums of the great city of Los Angeles. She grew up with nothing but a tenacity for gaining wealth and an independent nature. As soon as she was old enough, she roamed the streets asking passerby’s for spare change. She watched sales pitches and learned the perfect cons. For a person to be successful, they needed to first look the part. After that, it was all charm and cunning. Evelyn tried to look as sick as possible and clung to the sleeves of any well-off individuals as she begged them for money. Half of them didn’t bother to listen before shaking her off. The other half gave her more money than she had ever seen in one place.

This became a habit of hers until she grew older and decided that she didn’t want to be poor anymore. Evelyn saved up enough money to buy herself a nice dress and makeup. She got her hands on a gun (which belonged to a local drug dealer who had passed out drunk on the side of the street) and employed herself in the drug market. With some samples, Evelyn headed straight for the heart of the city, where she knew people loaded with money gathered. She cleverly charmed her way into a large house party and made herself comfortable with the boys that were there. She used her sex appeal to trap them in her web and left the party after giving out some samples and her number.

Since then, Evelyn’s only been going up. She became one of the best dealers in the state and provided for her family. To them, she was a sales woman who had landed a lucky type of clientele. She only had one rule: don’t get too close. Evelyn broke that rule when she met Steven Bass. They grew together, exploring the world and its riches. She provided him with only enough drugs to keep him hooked but not enough for him to lose complete control. And when her ability was triggered, it was during an altercation with one of her clients. She suddenly found herself face-to-face with a group of men pointing guns in her direction and then multiple versions of herself. The replication threw all of them off, and Evelyn managed to escape without any harm coming to herself. When Steven’s ability started up later that evening, Evelyn was more than prepared for the occasion and suggested that they go to Haven. In Haven, Evelyn poses as a sales woman supposedly selling one product to the next. From make ups to special “sex-aiding” pills, Evie’s got it all.

Steven Bass || Age: 25 || Infected || Occupation: Unemployed Student at the Institute || Place of Origin: Los Angeles, California, U.S. || FC: Matt Lanter || OPEN

Patient Record Number: ISB1098
Ability: Fire Manipulation

“We all live in a house on fire, no fire department to call; no way out, just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns the house down with us trapped, locked in it.”

Biography: Out of all the infamous Bass family members, Steven was always the hopeless case. He was the second child, overshadowed by his older brother since birth, and he was always thought to be less intelligent and less talented no matter how many gold medals or awards he brought home. It was never enough. The pressure Steven felt competing with his older brother drove him over the edge. On his twenty-first birthday, he disappeared. He took nothing with him except a bag full of clothes and some money to last him awhile. His family sent out search parties, scouring the city for any signs of him until a private investigator found Steven on the side of the road. There were puncture marks in his arm where he had shot himself up with drugs.

The Bass family employed a group of specially trained body guards to bring Steven home, but over the years, his drug problem only worsened and his disappearances became the norm. Soon, word of his disappearance only received a short, “Ah,” and a shrug of the shoulders. The only person who really seemed to care whenever Steve went missing was, ironically, his older brother. Steven became more violent and irritable, and when he wanted to disappear, he did.

The first place he would always go was to Evelyn Portman, his drug dealer. Given everything there was to say about drug dealers, Evelyn was high-end. She only dealt with the first class and never got her hands dirty. Steven was with her the night his ability acted up. Gregory had just called to tell him that their parents had arranged a marriage for him. Enraged, Steve accidentally set the house on fire. He managed to get Evelyn out of there without causing her any harm, but didn’t bother trying to put out the flames. It was only when Evelyn, not Gregory or Roselyn, suggested to go to Haven that Steven listened and obliged.

Noah Garrin || Age: 20 || Infected || Occupation: Waiter || Place of Origin: Wellington, New Zealand || FC: Anton Yelchin || OPEN

Patient Record Number: ING3249
Ability: Self-Sustenance (User’s needs—such as food, drink, sleep, etc—are completely removed)

“There’s never enough of the stuff you can’t get enough of.”

Biography:  Noah Garrin came from a family of too many kids and not enough money to support them all. Despite it all, his family was filled with love and an unselfish streak that followed through to Noah. He was used to slipping his siblings some of the food from his plate, and the feeling of going to bed hungry wasn’t unfamiliar to him.

It was at a particularly low point in his life when Gene X struck him. He had just dropped out of high school, determined to put his siblings through school by any means. He worked odd jobs—some not entirely legal—and used money for new clothes or to repair a leak in their roof. His parents were locked in terrible jobs, making minimum wage, but as they had gotten married straight out of high school, they couldn’t find better occupations. Noah tried his best to always have a smile on his face for his family, but it was exhausting. He almost didn’t notice that he stopped being able to sleep or that his stomach stopped growling altogether.

It took him a while to put together the pieces. He felt fine despite his lack of need for food or sleep or anything else; in fact, he probably felt better than he had in years. He suddenly had more time to work, and since he didn’t need breaks, he essentially became the perfect worker. It was a gift with a price however. Food turned to ash in his mouth, and more than ever, he yearned for a good night’s rest as a simple escape from reality. He became almost obsessive with how he spent his time, and as others around him became wary of his ability, he realized he would have to leave behind his family. His parents would never ask him to go, but he heard them talking—if their bosses found out they were housing a mutant, they would be fired. Noah packed up his bags, kissed each of his siblings goodbye, and headed off in search of Haven. He didn’t realize his sister had followed him with a secret of her own until he had already made it to the city of mutants. It was the only fight they had ever had, but truthfully, Noah was thankful for the familiar face. He’d never had to start over before, and to have someone he cared about with him was a blessing.

Bo Cooper || Age: 17 || Infected || Occupation: Student at the Institute || Place of Origin: Hoboken, New Jersey || FC: Freddie Highmore || OPEN

Patient Record Number: IBC903
Ability: Blood Manipulation (The ability to manipulate blood within himself and others both in destructive and harmless manners.)

“Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.”

Biography: Bo Cooper always had a very distorted view of the world. His first comprehensible memory was of his father driving away from his childhood home with a trunk full of suitcases and his mother weeping after him from the doorstep. Bo didn’t receive any kind of sentimental talk or item to remember his father by the night before, hell he didn’t even get a goodbye. His father was there one day and then he wasn’t; no birthday cards ever again, absolutely nothing.

Bo has had a difficult time trusting any adult male figure after that point. His uncle Griffin was the only exception to this of course, as Griffin was constantly around, looking after Bo and his twin sister, Leah. Things went from bad to worse when his mother was caught in a road pileup during his 10th year. The loss seemed unreal to Bo and sometimes it still does. Though it seemed initially that Bo was indifferent to being sent to live with Gavin, when the older man turned them down, Bo was hurt. His distrust in adult males kicked in full force, causing him to develop a harrowing hatred towards Gavin and a bitter expectancy of Griffin to leave them as well.

Overall the early teenage years were difficult on Bo and if it weren’t for Leah there to keep him grounded, he surely would have lost himself in his emotionally out-lashing ways. In present day Haven, Bo lives with Leah and Griffin, seeking control over his often frightening power. He has a certain guilt festering within him for being rebellious and difficult towards Griffin back when the man could still feel emotions as well as not being able to make up for it now that he’s slightly more level headed. Though he refuses to let it be known, he would very much like to reconcile his relationship with Gavin before that’s somehow jeopardized as well but putting aside his past insecurities and the foul behavior he’s grown used to is much easier thought than done.

Penelope McCorrigan || Age:26 || Infected || Occupation: Secretary at the Rec Center || Place of Origin: Belfast, Ireland || FC: Amber Heard || TAKEN

Patient Record Number: PMI437
Ability: Luck

"Sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck."

Biography: The life Penny was born into could have been described as ‘rocky’ at best. She was born in Ireland, land of the lucky, when her father’s luck quickly ran out. With her mother a ‘fun night in’ and completely out of the picture, her father quickly packed his bags, and headed for the States. With Las Vegas in mind, a young Patrick McCorrigan, and an even younger Penny, ended up in the hands of a local Arizona motorcycle gang. Instead of winning big in the casinos, her father started making money through gun trading. From the age of six, Penny was surrounded by violence, gambling, and debauchery, so it was no surprise to anyone when she grew up with a sly streak. By eleven she was hustling everyone in sight, and by thirteen she could drink even the heaviest drunk under the table. At some point, the lies and the tricks became boring. They were as much as a normal routine as school and homework; she no longer got any pleasure out seeing the light fade out of a man’s eyes when he realized that he was cheated out of a money- it had become normal, and because she didn’t know any better, Penny figured that she couldn’t have any more in life. She never realized that normal teens didn’t get grabbed at by grimy hands at bars, or that helping the club deal drugs was a bad thing. She was doing everything that she was told, and she was great at it, even if it just left her wanting more.

When she was eighteen, she finally made it big. Vegas had called her name, and with her skill- and a few sways of her hips- no casino would reject her. Her luck had turned around, and she knew it, she just didn’t know how. Thousands of dollars where rolling in, thanks to Gene X, though Penny, and everyone around her, chalked it all up to skill. She was heralded as some kind of Gambling Goddess when her luck failed her for the first time. Her father, and at-the-time boyfriend were busted at a heroin deal, and carted off to prison. Finally under the microscope, Penny didn’t know how to react. It was as if real life had crashed down, and caught her in the tidal wave. Suddenly, there was talk of jail time, all because she did ‘too well’ in the casinos, and had been spotted doing deals for the club. Knowing that she was caught, Penny did what any sensible hustler would: she fled. She’d heard talk of Haven over the poker tables, and knew that it would be her only salvation. She didn’t know at the time that she actually was infected- that she actually was lucky, and that being caught was the best thing that had happened to her yet.

Barley Wyatt || Age: 22 || Infected || Occupation: Tour Guide || Place of Origin: Wilmington, Delaware || FC: Ellen Page/Nathaniel Buzolic || TAKEN

Patient Record Number: BWI2307
Ability: Dual Appearance/ Toxikenesis

”Men become accustomed to poison by degrees.”

Biography: Barley often felt as though everything in her life was divided. He parents had separated when she was young- their marriage was divided, and then her time became divided between them as well. Her interests were divided; part of her wanted to pursue film-making while the other longed for the medical field. She walked the line between introvert and extrovert, dividing herself into entirely separate groups of friends.

It was pretty much the cherry on top of her half-and-half milkshake when Gene X activated inside her. Not only did it sever her family’s ties with her and divide her from her home and her friends, but it separated her into two people. There was the Barley everyone had seen- the short and dark-haired girl- but there was also the new Barley- a man, tall and bearing only a faint resemblance to the female counterpart. One of her now-ex-friends called her ‘the ultimate hermaphrodite’.

She kept her two selves hidden as best she could, learning how to keep herself from slipping from appearance to appearance. But try as she may, there was no stopping her power. While in her feminine form, she found that it didn’t take much concentration to feel venom pulsing in her veins; it didn’t take much more out of her to release it from her fingers.

Barley worked herself wary trying to keep up her normal facade, and then she heard- in whispers- about Haven. The city of mutants. Her saving grace. She worked, saved up money, and flew to the Highlands, leaving only a note behind for her father to find. She doubted he’d miss her anyway.
